On their own adult moths are not a major threat. Unfortunately the larvae is often the cause of the damage due to its eating through fabric, cotton and wool or eating dry goods like pasta and bread. The larvae are also known to cause irritation and allergic reaction if they come into contact with the skin directly.
Infestation of flies are very common and annoying. There are also a variety of different flies depending on the season and the location. Flies are mostly attracted to all types of food and waste. Wings and legs carry around the pathogens that transfer onto food contaminating it and after being digested by animals or humans health problems can occur.
There are a number of more common flies from Autumn Fly, Blowfly, Drain fly, Fruit fly, GNAT, Horsefly, Housefly and Lace fly (to name but a few.)
Around 30 days is the complete life span of the fly. From Egg, Larva, Pupa and then adult. Batches of 75 to 150 can be laid in one sitting and up to 500 eggs in their lifetime.
Treatment available to remove moths and flies is dependent on the type and season.
